Our manufacturers use a high quality stainless steel grade 304 which is used throughout all type of industries.
All stainless steel is iron-based alloy, i. e. the iron (Fe) content amounts to at least 50%. Steel is classified to be “stainless” if it does not rust after it has been in contact with water or humid air even after a prolonged period of time. Rust itself mainly consists of a combination of iron hydroxide (Fe OH3) and iron oxides.
Stainless steel owes its rust-resistant quality mainly to the alloy metal chromium (Cr). Chromium forms chromium oxide on the surface of the steel and results in a so-called passive condition, i. e. the electrochemical property of the steel surface is similar to that of precious metal, such as silver, platinum or gold. Additionally, nickel (Ni) increases the general strength and resistance to corrosion.
Our manufacturers generally use the chromium-nickel alloyed quality with the material no. 1.4301. When compared to chromium steel it shows a significantly improved resistance to corrosion.
Stainless steel is – with the exception of reducing acids and chlorine containing agents – resistant to corrosion, and above all does not need additional surface treatment, once it has been glass bead blasted. The raw material and energy-intensive manufacture yields an almost perfect recycle-ability of materials.
Most of our manufacturers use stainless steel polished by a process of glass bead blasting. The glass bead blasting substances applied are absolutely free of harmful substances and friendly to the environment. The polished stainless steel gives an attractive shine that will last for a lifetime.
