Emeryville Center of Community Life
When a traditional playground for Emeryville’s new school was cut because of cost and lack of space, the Wallholla became the solution. Designed by the Dutch firm Carve and distributed in North America by Goric, the Wallholla is a three story high vertical play layered with undulating ribbons that can be walked on, clambered over or leaped. Encased in a wire mesh cage for safety, optional components include slides, climbing walls, firefighter poles, and climbing nets and ropes. Not only is it a hit with the kids, but School Superintendent John Rubio says, “We often catch parents inside the structure playing with children.”
