Jackson Square Park, SW Corridor, Boston
In 2010, Goric Marketing Group USA, Inc. was approached by an enthusiastic group representing the Boston Children’s Hospital Build a Playground Project at the Southwest Corridor in Boston. In their playground research they found Goric to be the innovative and creative group that would suit their project well. Additionally, they found pictures of the Wallholla online and were attracted to it instantly for its hardy, compact design with the possibility for endless play in a transparent and enclosed area. Goric secured the exclusive rights from Carve to manufacture and distribute the Wallholla in North America, and immediately made design revisions to ensure that the equipment would meet the American safety standards.
The Boston playground is a joint project between the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), a state agency, and Children’s Hospital Boston, who raised the funds for the project. The Jackson Square “T” (subway) station is steps away from the play area and the subway tunnel runs under the playground. Goric worked with a team of people from the Boston Children’s hospital, the DCR and the landscape architects from Stantec to modify the footing requirements of Wallholla and the other playground equipment to accommodate the lack of depth due to the subway tunnel.
